What happened to the studio?
Singer Lee Seung-chul told the JTBC variety show 'Knowing Bros' on October 31 that a recording studio he had built in Seoul's Gangnam district was flooded during record rain. According to his account, the studio was not yet open when the water came.
What did Lee Seung-chul say about the damage?
Lee Seung-chul said the flood came about 30 minutes after he checked on the studio, and that draining the water took a week. He said the 15-meter interior glass wall broke under the water pressure and the equipment was destroyed. Repairs, he said, took about three months to tear out, three months to dry, and three months to rebuild.
How did Lee Soo-man help him?
Lee Seung-chul said he met producer Lee Soo-man at an awards ceremony. Lee Soo-man reportedly joked that he had hit big with H.O.T. and asked how big Lee Seung-chul would get from the flood. Lee Seung-chul said the song 'Never Ending Story' came out afterward and helped restore the studio.
For international fans
Lee Seung-chul is one of South Korea's best-known ballad singers, and Lee Soo-man is the founder of SM Entertainment, the agency behind H.O.T. The episode was a lighthearted look back at a difficult period, told in Lee Seung-chul's own words.
