Actor Lee Dong-gun has explained why he closed his cafe in Jeju and revealed plans to relocate it to Seoul. He spoke about the decision on SBS's variety show Mi Woo Sae Ki (Mi Woo Sae Ki, also known as Mi Woo Sae), which aired on the 1st.
What happened to the Jeju cafe?
Lee Dong-gun opened the cafe in Aewol-eup, Jeju, in April of last year. It drew attention for its popularity, and fans reportedly lined up before it opened. In July, the cafe abruptly announced a restructuring and closed. Rumors later spread that it had failed.
Why did he close it?
On the show, Lee Dong-gun said he had run the Jeju cafe for nearly one year and six months. He admitted the process was harder than he expected. He said he was doing his best but struggled to fully satisfy customers, and that the pressure built up over time.
Is the cafe moving to Seoul?
Yes. Lee Dong-gun said in a live broadcast and again on the show that he is preparing to relocate to Seoul. After consulting space planner Yoo Jeong-su, he decided to make the move. Yoo said Lee is preparing a more ambitious project in the capital.
What about the original space?
Reports in September said a fashion brand store is now operating in the location where the cafe used to be.
